CONSTRUCTION PERIOD—VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

During our construction, we need volunteers to help us complete the Friends Center. Many men and women are regulars. Except for a few trades, this is a primarily volunteer building project.

We work Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. In addition, we schedule regular work parties” on Saturdays. For information on work parties, please see our "News" page.

If you’d like to volunteer, send a message via the Contact Us page. Our minimum age limit is 16 (minors must have parent’s permission) or 12 with adult sponsor also volunteering.

GREEN-BUILDING PROGRAMS—Once completed

One mission of the Friends Center is be a show-case for “green” construction materials, systems and techniques. (Traditional construction methods in the developed world are one of the largest sources of pollution and unsustainable uses of resources on the planet.) When construction is completed, we will have regularly scheduled programs for regional architects, engineers, developers and contractors with the goal of inspiring the construction industry to try new, sustainably produced materials and systems, by showing their advantages and how they’re used.
